Why does it take a funeral for family to come together? Sadly, that seems to be the case. I haven't seen my cousins Randy, LeeAnne, Tim and Nancy for several years. (Their mother, Phyllis is my grandmother Mayselle's younger sister.) Their dad, Bud Burrows passed away and we all gathered Thursday, August 19th in Coeur d'Alene to say goodbye. Although it was a solemn occasion, we were so happy to see each other again and get caught up. It was too short of a visit but well worth the drive up. (Thanks to my cousin Sandi and Aunt Diane). We had a really nice day...stopping for lunch at Elmer's in Coeur d'Alene (Diane's favorite) and topping off our day trip with blizzards from DQ, of course!

Camping on the backside of the lake
Jehkiah wanted to camp one last time at Jubilee before heading to North Carolina. The weather was beautiful and the fish were hopping in the boat...at least from Dad's side of the canoe. We really had a wonderful time and noticed a definite difference in the weather--there were no flies! Which means an early fall. Glad we got to go and have some bonding time before Jehkiah left. (Jayden was on his own backpacking trip with his YM leaders so it was just the three of us.) Of course, we had to stop at DQ on the way home for our traditional blizzard. Good times.
